True Worship

Do you mean what you say to God in worship? Or does the truest expression of your heart flow only when you desperately want something that is beyond your ability to accomplish?

Do you pursue after God apart from the sights, sounds, smells that accompany worship to reach God’s heart like a person to person interaction? Do you get beyond the emotional highs created by resounding drums, cymbals, wind or string instruments? Worship is not about pleasing our human senses.

Approaching God’s throne is not rehearsed or routine worship. The human heart is highly susceptible to self-deception by the self-righteousness that comes from following legalistic religious routines. God absolutely sees everything inside your heart, mind and motives and is not fooled by outward display. Try to not be holy in the sight of others but rather strive to be holy in the gaze of God from whom neither a thought of your mind nor acts done in secret are hidden.Be real for God is real.

In worship, you are coming to the greatest and mightiest King, to the Founder and CEO of all the multiverses (multiple universes). How might you approach the highest leader of a great country? How much more then ought you to be respectful, humble and genuine in your heart’s motives to seek God’s presence? Do not offer God practiced recitals. Mean what you say. Wait and listen to what God speaks to your heart.

Do not put up your worship as an exhibit in front of others. Let what you lay down and lift up before God not be mere objects of silver, gold, spices, incenses, flowers, knees, foreheads or hands.
Lay down before God your heart for God to have His way, His vision and His will for you; all of which will always far exceed your own understanding of yourself.
Lift up before God prayers for those whom you know are suffering, wanting, hurting, searching, wandering. Lift these up in genuine earnest putting others ahead of your own needs.

Delight in God. Worship is not about delighting in the buildings you choose to worship, nor the workmanship of human hands, nor the security of the community group, nor the deep percussion beats, nor the melody of the song, nor the fragrance of incense nor the flickering of many flames. For none of these is worship and God does not need any of these.

Offer God your heart.
God does not need you to wash hands, faces, feet; let Him wash your heart and mind.
God does not need your food; let Him be the food your soul needs.
God does not need your decorations; let Him transform you from the inside out so your face shines and your spirit is lifted up.

Be obsessed about drawing close to God, not about the "things of God" that religions stipulate.
Come back to the heart of worship, it is all about and only about God.

When the music fades
All is stripped away
And I simply come
Longing just to bring
Something that's of worth
That will bless Your heart
I'll bring You more than a song
For a song in itself
Is not what You have required
You search much deeper within
Through the way things appear
You're looking into my heart
