Worship with your Mind

Unfailingly at the crack of dawn, all birds, each according to their type - sing, chirp, whistle and make joyful sounds unto the Lord their Maker. They know who He is and they delight in lifting up their voices singing praises to Him.

All across the world where there are trees, each according to its own type, have their branches raised up like many arms going up to worship the Lord their Maker, they know who He is.

Birds sing, loud and melodious, multiple notes, sounds and languages, if you may, but never sounding like a cacophony. They have no arms to lift up hands but they use their voices. They rest, perched atop branches of trees. Trees that have no voices but lift up their arms of different lengths, colors, leaves, shapes - of different tribes, if you may, all united in raising them heavenward.

Together the Lord designed this prayer and worship team to lead us each day to meet and delight in Him, the first thing as a day begins.

Let us also then each day follow the lead of God's prayer and worship team and worship Him, the Lord our Maker. Let us know Him as the birds and the trees already know. These were designed with this knowledge "coded" in. We, humans, must seek God so that we might also know Him - with in our hearts and also in our minds. This is so that our human worship is a willing one, based on knowledge of the One whom we have sought.

They worship in their style, they already know Him. We, humans, must worship in our style, which means, we must make efforts to know Him in order that our worship is true. So that our voices, our raised hands, our singing styles are not all just mere words, habit, rote, traditions, social norms, programmed output but all expression is stemmed of the will seated firmly in the knowledge of who He is and what He has done. We cannot love God nor worship God unless it is in spirit and in truth and with a weaving of our heart, soul and brains in it.

Faith and reason are twins, you cannot have one without another. Choose faith alone and you get religion, choose reason alone and you get skepticism. But both faith and reason are a must for the true seeker. For God commanded us to love Him with all our heart, soul, strength and mind. The last mode of loving God, mind, is often forgotten.
